2016年第40屆Olivier Awards於昨日(2/29)由Olivier史上黃金拍檔主持人Michael
Ball及Imelda Staunton(再度)連袂公布入圍名單
毫不意外地，由Chichester搬演過來、Jonathan
Kent導演的【Gypsy】再度成為提名階段最大贏家，共囊括八項提名，包含最佳複排音樂劇及最佳音樂劇女演員等大獎
Chichester近幾年堪稱最稱職的Off West End代表，為West
End提供源源不斷的強檔製作，當家導演Jonathan Kent與Imelda Staunton聯手合作搬演至倫敦的2012年【Sweeney
Todd】、2013年【Good People】、2015年【Gypsy】在票房和口碑上都大獲全勝，他對Imelda的長處認識極深，總能充分發揮Imelda各個方面的長處，讓這位爐火純青的影后級英國女演員每一次都帶給觀眾不同的驚喜
不過Jonathan Kent已經確定將在今年告別Chichester，新上任的Daniel
Evans本身是個好演員，近幾年演而優則導也有很不錯的聲譽，就看接下來他能否繼續Chichester這番盛況榮景了。而Jonathan
Kent的卸任是否會影響到他繼續與Imelda這份不錯的合作關係，也讓人拭目以待。
入圍名單緊追在後的則為百老匯搬演過來的徹頭徹尾百老匯音樂劇【Kinky Boots】，總共獲得七項提名，包括兩位男主角同時入圍最佳音樂劇男演員
然而說實話，2015一整年西區音樂劇的表現乏善可陳，幾乎沒有讓人太過驚喜的全新創作，今年音樂劇的獎項花落誰家應該比較容易預測

è 六人入圍實際上卻只有三齣戲…可見過去一年西區音樂劇有多麼乏善可陳，Jamie Parker難得被提名一次，可惜聽說他在【Guys and Dolls】的表現差強人意。【Kinky Boots】同樣不需要什麼神鬼演技，但若真要從兩人中挑一個的話，Matt勝出的機率應該還是比Killian高的

è 很想問Benedict入圍到底憑什麼…他不差啦，但是那個製作實在是問題頗大，榜上其餘都是強者，Sir Kenneth Branagh, Adrian Lester, Mark Rylance都是英倫頂尖演員，只是我對於Sir Kenneth Branagh在【The Winter’s Tale】的評價持保留態度，總覺得這麼多年來肯導有自己一套的莎劇模式跳不太出來，除了飾演的角色有些超齡之外，整體表現也不如他前幾年在Manchester演Macbeth的爆發力

è 雖然【Kinky Boots】是大熱門，但【Gypsy】的風格更多元也相當亮眼，這個獎項四個競爭者都頗有潛力，很難判斷花落誰家，但私心裡希望能給予新戲肯定，感覺上【Guys and Dolls】在編舞上的新意應該不高，【In the Heights】要等待下個月親自去鑑定

這個獎項今年頗有進步，在我跟促成此獎創始者之一的David Charles Abell連續抱怨了三年之後，Olivier終於讓入圍名單看起來不再那麼匪夷所思…雖然仍舊無法像東尼那樣將作詞作曲編曲分開比較，但至少在名單裡面把整個劇場音樂創作視為一個整體去肯定，倒也頗make sense
倫敦西區過去一年在音樂劇上的乏善可陳也可以從這個名單中看出來，四個入圍名額居然還能讓舞台劇【Farinelli and the King】也來插一腳，音樂劇的表現著實應該檢討
